I have learnt a great deal from the experience and hope that you enjoy reading the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Old Testament<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/jesuscreed\/2014\/08\/07\/pre-adamite-populations-rjs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scot McKnight<\/a> has an interesting discussion of how Christian theologians in the 1800s used the idea of &#8220;Pre-Adamites&#8221; and points out some of the motivations behind the various theories adopted. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ligonier.org\/blog\/was-adam-historical-person\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guy Waters<\/a> considers whether it is essential that Adam be understood as being a historical person and concludes in the affirmative.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/claudemariottini.com\/2014\/08\/26\/the-spirit-of-god-in-genesis-12\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Claude Mariottini<\/a>&nbsp;analyses&nbsp;Richard E. Averbeck&#8217;s fascinating essay \u201cBreath, wind, spirit and the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament\u201d.&nbsp;Brian Collins considers the significance of &#8220;land&#8221; in Genesis 8 and 9 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.exegesisandtheology.com\/2014\/08\/10\/land-genesis-8\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here <\/a>| <a href=\"http:\/\/www.exegesisandtheology.com\/2014\/08\/28\/land-genesis-9\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>). Craig Keener has a three-part series on the Conquest entitled &#8220;Slaughtering the Canaanites&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.craigkeener.com\/slaughtering-the-canaanites-part-i-limiting-factors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Part 1<\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.craigkeener.com\/slaughtering-the-canaanites-part-ii-switching-sides\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Part 2<\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.craigkeener.com\/slaughtering-the-canaanites-part-iii-gods-ideal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Part 3<\/a>). <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20161208035313\/http:\/\/lawprophetsandwritings.com\/2014\/08\/asherah-of-any-kind-of-wood-deut-1621\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rusty Osborne<\/a> has a helpful study on the correct translation of &#8220;Asherah&#8221;. <a href=\"http:\/\/dilettante-exegete.blogspot.co.uk\/2013\/08\/parallelomaniamania.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rick Sumner<\/a> has a discussion about the enduring value of Samuel Sandmel&#8217;s paper on &#8220;Parallelomania&#8221;. I found it interesting that he reaches the same conclusion <a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalstudies.org.uk\/blog\/?p=557\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as I did<\/a> when I uploaded the article to the Web in 2008.&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cordeo.org.uk\/everybody-hides\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peter Mead<\/a> offers an overview of Psalm 46 and some of the reactions it can evoke.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">David deSilva\u00a0has put the first of his videos produced for on-line courses at Ashland Theological Seminary on YouTube &#8211; this one on an introduction to the Septuagint (HT: Clifford Kvidahl<span style=\"color: #574d4d;\">)<\/span>. <a href=\"http:\/\/larryhurtado.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/13\/the-septuagint-some-scholarly-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Larry Hurtado<\/a> offers some scholarly resources of the LXX. I <i>do <\/i>want to defend the right of Israel to exist, and to be a particular homeland for Jews around the world, and to use <i>reasonable <\/i>force to defend itself\u2014like any other nations. Malcolm<\/a> ponders the significance of a 2nd Century AD letter square from Smyna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Claude Mariottoni has an excellent post on the <a href=\"http:\/\/claudemariottini.com\/2014\/08\/05\/the-seal-of-hezekiah\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">significance of Hezekiah&#8217;s Seal<\/a>&nbsp;and the discovery of a <a href=\"http:\/\/claudemariottini.com\/2014\/08\/29\/a-canaanite-royal-wine-cellar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canaanite wine cellar at Tel Kabri<\/a> also catches both his attention and that of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paleojudaica.blogspot.co.uk\/2014_08_24_archive.html#4957245876839745589\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim Davila<\/a>.&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/gath.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/13\/a-neat-seal-from-this-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arenmaeir<\/a> reports on the discovery of a new seal found at the site of ancient Gath.&nbsp;Also worth mentioning here is <a href=\"http:\/\/zwingliusredivivus.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/19\/bbc-radio-four-and-ancient-greece\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim West&#8217;s <\/a>link to the archive of BBC Radio 4 series <em>In Our Time<\/em> which deal with Ancient Greece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inerrancy<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/biblicalstudies.org.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/5-views.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"152\" height=\"231\" src=\"http:\/\/biblicalstudies.org.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/5-views.png\" alt=\"Inerrancy: Five Views\" class=\"wp-image-1318\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The inerrancy debate continues with <a href=\"http:\/\/thebiblicalworld.blogspot.co.uk\/2014\/08\/whats-your-opinion-of-bibles-historical.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Byron<\/a> re-posting the results of the latest US Gallop poll on the Bible&#8217;s historical accuracy. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/jesuscreed\/2014\/08\/04\/inerrancy-a-classic-model\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scot McKnight<\/a> provides a review of Inerrancy:&nbsp;<i>Five Views<\/i>&nbsp;dealing with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/jesuscreed\/2014\/08\/19\/inspiration-yes-inerrancy-rjs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">objections<\/a>.&nbsp;He&nbsp;writes in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/jesuscreed\/2014\/08\/20\/the-emperor-and-inerrancy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">later post<\/a> that he thinks that inerrancy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8230;is a disruptive child in the theological classroom. He or she gets all the attention of teacher and students. A biblical view of inerrancy demotes it under the word true, all as part of God\u2019s choice to communicate efficiently and sufficiently. When the word \u201ctrue\u201d governs the game it\u2019s a brand new, healthy game. Good teachers know how to handle disruptive children.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/euangelion\/2014\/08\/scot-mcknight-on-mike-birds-inerrancy-essay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael Bird<\/a> responds to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/jesuscreed\/2014\/08\/11\/is-inerrancy-a-game-only-played-by-american-evangelicals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McKnight&#8217;s critique<\/a> of his section of the book and has some general thoughts to add <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/euangelion\/2014\/08\/scot-mcknight-on-inerrancy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.christilling.de\/2014\/08\/mohler-on-inerrancy-seventeen-criticisms.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chris Tilling<\/a> takes issue (well,&nbsp;17 issues to be exact) with Albert Mohler&#8217;s contribution to the same&nbsp;volume.&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/euangelion\/2014\/08\/armin-baum-on-inerrancy-and-canon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael Bird<\/a> commends&nbsp;two recent articles by Armin Baum on inerrancy and canonicity.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/michaeljkruger.com\/does-the-bible-ever-get-it-wrong-facing-scriptures-difficult-passages-1-greg-beale\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greg Beale<\/a> contributes the first of what is to be a series of responses to Peter Enns&#8217;s &#8220;Aha&#8221; Moments.
