However, an unexpected benefit of digitising over 30,000 theological articles has made the Biblical Studies website into an official archive of British church history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the last few years I have been approached, first by the <a href=\"https:\/\/biblicalstudies.org.uk\/blog\/transactions-of-the-baptist-historical-society-now-online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baptist Historical Society<\/a>, then by the <a href=\"https:\/\/biblicalstudies.org.uk\/blog\/proceedings-of-the-wesley-historical-society-now-on-line\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Methodists<\/a> and, this month, by the United Reformed Church to digitise and host their journals. This material has proved extremely popular with church historians &#8211; as you would expect &#8211; but also with those tracing their ancestry, as the articles often contain a wealth of biographical information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/biblicalstudies.org.uk\/articles_tbhs_01.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Transactions of the Baptist Historical Society <\/em><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/biblicalstudies.org.uk\/articles_whs_01.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Proceedings of the Wesley Historical Society<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/biblicalstudies.org.uk\/articles_urc-historical-society-01.php\"><em>Journal of the United Reformed Church History Society<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am hopeful that at some point the site might also host the historical journals of the Presbyterian and Congregationalist churches.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Theology on the Web&#8217;s primary function has always been to provide a comprehensive and free online theological library for those without access to physical books around the world.
